Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for your support these
past few months. I
have received countless e-mails and letters of encouragement
from District 7 residents, community leaders, small business
owners, and colleagues from throughout the City of San Jose
and the surrounding areas.
I am overwhelmed by the support I have received and
feel more energized than ever before to fight this unjust
recall campaign.
But, there is a lot of work ahead and I need your continued
support.
September 13, 2008, is the deadline for the Recall Committee
to gather 3,162 signatures of registered voters who live in
District 7. If
there are enough qualified signatures, the recall measure will
be placed on the ballot and a special election will be
scheduled. If there are not enough qualified signatures, this
entire issue can be put to rest and our city can return to
normalcy.
Unfortunately, my opponents will stop at nothing to convince
well-intentioned District 7 residents to sign this petition.
When I
first ran for my seat on the San Jose City Council in 2005, I
ran a fair and honest campaign. I campaigned against a lot of
false and misleading information, much like what I am faced
with today. The
leaders of this recall effort are circulating a lot of false
information about my serving a wealthy developer, serving
special interests, dividing the community, hidden agendas, and
among others. I
assure you, all of these statements are absolutely false and
unfounded. I do
not serve the interests of a developer or special interests.
I am dedicated to
serving all of my constituents in my district and I cherish
open government and democracy.
And in the spirit of civic engagement
and the democratic process, I ask you to volunteer for my
campaign and help me beat this recall effort.
We can inform the community about the truth and
encourage residents NOT to sign the recall petition.
Together, we can defeat this unjust recall effort and
return to issues that matter most to District 7 residents and
the larger San Jose community.
Lets end this recall campaign now!
Sincerely,

Madison P. Nguyen
Councilmember, District 7
